Jnan Vikas Mandal (JVM) Trust was established in the year 1974 by a group of enterprising visionaries. JVM Trust was started with a deep rooted desire and a strong commitment to provide value based education which would also enhance the employability of the students. The Mandal is committed to cater to the academic needs of locals who are middle and lower middle income group with majority being first generation learners. The Mandal has successfully started and developed two educational institutes:
JVM Trust started the Degree College in the year 2001 and is the first college in Airoli, Navi Mumbai. It is re-accredited with ‘A’ grade by NAAC (CGPA 3.33). The college which began with a humble beginning with just 12 students has recorded an exponential growth and is now a full-fledged co-educational institution functioning in two shifts with 9 UG courses, 3 PG courses both conventional and professional with a Ph.D. recognised centre affiliated to the University of Mumbai. Our college has also associated with Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU) for B.C.A. and M.C.A. courses. College has a state-of- the-art Auditorium, a seminar hall with all the modern sophisticated audio-visual facilities and well equipped laboratories for Science and Information Technology.
Our college has collaborated with various reputed institutes and companies like Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), CASI Global to offer certificate courses to the students in order to enhance their employability skills.
Department of Chemistry was established in the year 2001. Chemistry is taught to the undergraduate & Post graduate students. We started M.Sc. Organic Chemistry in the year 2008 and M.Sc. by Research in the year 2014. We have also received recognition of research centre for Ph.D. in Chemistry in the year 2019. We have well equipped laboratories.
Association of Chemistry Teachers, launched in 2000 is the apex national registered body of Chemistry educators of India. Since its inception, ACT has worked tirelessly to promote excellence in Chemistry education by means of curriculum development and innovations in teaching and evaluation methodologies. ACT regularly organizes workshops, symposia and conferences including an annual National Convention of Chemistry Teachers (NCCT) in different parts of the country. ACT is actively involved in the National and International Chemistry Olympiad programmes. National Chemistry Day is celebrated on 10th December by organizing Chemistry competitions for school and college students. It is a matter of pride that the leading chemical scientists of the country, Bharat Ratna Prof. C. N. R. Rao, Padma Vibhushan, Prof. M. M. Sharma, Padma Vibhushan, Dr. R. A. Mashelkar and Padma Shri, Prof. J. P. Mittal are Honorary Members of ACT and sources of inspiration and guidance.
The Virtual International Conference on Multifunctional Advanced Materials (VICMAM 2021) will give an opportunity to gain knowledge from the experience of eminent scientists working in the field of the Advanced Materials.
